Digital Employability Sessions

Book onto any of our digital employability sessions to get help and support on a range of topics including CV writing, interview techniques, redundancy support and more.

What do the sessions involve?

Sessions will be led by an employability coach. You can book on as many sessions as you like. 

Duration: Each session will last for 1 hour
Cost: All sessions are free
Group session numbers: Each session will be limited to a maximum of 20 people
Platform: Sessions will run on Microsoft Teams
Booking: Online booking is through Microsoft Bookings

Any information you provide to Careers Wales when booking the sessions will be stored in accordance with GDPR. Please read our privacy policy for more information.

You will be able to ask questions through the chat function in Microsoft Teams. Chats will be anonymised so that other people on the chat will not have access to your contact details. Only your screen name will be displayed, which you will set when you create your Microsoft Teams account.

Employability sessions content

All sessions can be booked online through Microsoft Bookings. Alternatively, contact us and we can book you on to the session or sessions of your choice. There are 6 different employability sessions.

1. CV and cover letter

In this session you will learn:

  • What to put into a CV and cover letter content and how to structure them
  • How to tailor a CV to a job description
  • To identify personal skills and qualities that will improve the personal profile section of your CV

2. Interviews

In this session you will learn:

  • To develop your skills in preparing for an interview
  • About various interview styles and assessments
  • The importance of body language in an interview

3. Application forms

In this session you will learn:

  • To understand job advertisements and selection processes
  • To understand what a personal statement is and how to write a personal statement

4. Promoting yourself

In this session you will learn:

  • How to answer competency questions using the Context, Action, Result (CAR) method
  • Why competency questions are used

5. Job research

In this session you will learn:

  • The value and importance of doing specific job research so that you can stand out from the competition

6. Support when facing furlough/redundancy/unemployment

In this session you will be provided with:

  • An overview of the support and funding available if you have been affected by furlough, unemployment, or redundancy since 1 January 2020
