Careers support via video interviewing helps Heather plan for her return to Wales.
Moving to another country
Heather, originally from Caernarfon moved to Korea in March 2019 after meeting and marrying her Korean partner.
Heather always had a passion for English and creative writing, and this really helped with the move to Korea as she is currently tutoring English privately.
“I left school in 2017 after finishing my A-levels and decided the best route for me at that time was to look for employment. I secured a job which I enjoyed but I was also keen to enhance my job opportunities by undertaking further English related courses.”
Getting support from Working Wales
Heather and her husband plan to move back to Wales in 2021 after her husband completes his degree. She started to think about forward planning for their return to Wales; looking at potential job opportunities and skills and qualifications that she would need.
“Whilst researching on-line and looking for labour market information (LMI), I was directed towards Working Wales, which is delivered by Careers Wales. I remembered the careers advice and guidance support I had received from Careers Wales when I was in school.
I accessed the web chat facility via the Working Wales website and was then offered a video call with a careers adviser. It was so straight forward, and I could do it all from the comfort of my home in a safe environment."
Forward career planning
“Careers adviser Avril was fantastic and so informative. She went through all the different options available to me and looked at different roles that would suit me and what qualifications I would need to get them. She gave me some great job ideas and helped me draft my CV.
“I will carry on getting support from Working Wales during our transition back to Wales. I am currently looking at re-engaging with university on an English based course."
